Floor Action: The House and Senate are in session. 

Sports– On Tuesday, the House is scheduled to vote on H.R. 28, the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act of 2025. 

Violence Against Women– On Tuesday, the House is scheduled to vote on H.R. 30, the Preventing Violence Against Women by Illegal Aliens Act


Bills Introduced: January 6-10, 2025 

Abortion 

H.R. 272–Rep. Michelle Fischbach (R-MN)/Energy and Commerce (01/09/2025)–A bill to prohibit federal funding to entities that do not certify the entities will not perform, or provide any funding to any other entity that performs, an abortion. 

Human Trafficking 

S. 48–Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN)/Judiciary (01/09/2025)–A bill to establish a federal grant program to combat the smuggling and trafficking of children and young women.

S. 53–Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN)/Judiciary (01/09/2025)–A bill to require the Secretary of Homeland Security to fingerprint noncitizen minors entering the United States who are suspected of being victims of human trafficking, to require the Secretary to publicly disclose the number of such minors who are fingerprinted by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials and the number of child traffickers who are apprehended by CBP, to impose criminal penalties on noncitizen adults who use unrelated minors to gain entry into the United States, and for other purposes.

Reproductive Health 

H.R. 271–Rep. Michelle Fischbach (R-MN)/Energy and Commerce (01/09/2025)–A bill to provide for a moratorium on federal funding to Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Inc. 

H.R. 215–Rep. Rob Wittman (R-VA)/Energy and Commerce (01/07/2025)–A bill to require assurances that certain family planning service projects and programs will provide pamphlets containing the contact information of adoption centers. 

Sports 

S. 9–Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL)/(01/07/2025)–A bill to provide that for purposes of determining compliance with Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 in athletics, sex shall be recognized based solely on a person’s reproductive biology and genetics at birth.

Veterans

H.R. 211–Rep. Julia Brownley (D-CA)/Veterans’ Affairs (01/06/2025)–A bill to provide for limitations on copayments for contraception furnished by the Department of Veterans Affairs, and for other purposes. 

H.R. 219–Rep. Julia Brownley (D-CA)/Veterans’ Affairs (01/06/2025)–A bill to conduct a study on menopause care furnished by the Department of Veterans Affairs, and for other purposes.

H.R. 220–Rep. Julia Brownley (D-CA)/Veterans’ Affairs (01/07/2025)–A bill to direct the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to provide coverage for infertility treatment and standard fertility preservation services, and for other purposes. 

Women’s History

S. 24–Sen. Mike Crapo (R-ID)/Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs (01/07/2025)–A bill to designate the facility of the United States Postal Service located at 154 First Avenue East in Jerome, Idaho, as the “Representative Maxine Bell Post Office.”
