Crime— On May 15, the House passed, 377-1, H.R. 4854, the Justice Served Act of 2018. The bill would provide additional resources to eliminate the DNA analysis backlog.
Veterans— On May 16, the House passed, 347-70, S. 2372, the VA Maintaining Internal Systems and Strengthening Integrated Outside Networks (MISSION) Act, as amended. The legislation contains provisions to provide gender-specific services at Veterans Administration facilities.
Violence Against Women— On May 16, the Senate passed, by unanimous consent, S. 2349, the Improve Data on Sexual Violence Act.

Appropriations— On May 16, the House Appropriations Committee approved, 31-20, the FY2019 Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and Related Agencies spending bill (as-yet-unnumbered), as amended. On May 16, the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and Related Agencies passed, by voice vote, the FY2019 Transportation, HUD, and Related Agencies spending bill (as-yet-unnumbered).
According the committee summary, the measure would provide a total of $71.8 billion in discretionary funding. Among other provisions important to women and their families, the bill would include $20 million for housing vouchers for families with children.
