On June 26, the Senate approved, by unanimous consent, the Victims of Child Abuse Act Reauthorization Act (S. 1799), which would reauthorize the Victims of Child Abuse Act of 1990 (P.L. 101-647).
Among other provisions, the measure, sponsored by Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE), would reauthorize through FY2018 the children’s advocacy program, Department of Justice Office of Juvenile Justice grants to develop and implement child abuse investigations and prosecutions, and grants to national organizations to provide technical assistance and training to attorneys and others involved with prosecuting child abuse cases.
