On September 13, the Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health passed, by voice vote, the Improving Access to Maternity Care Act, H.R. 1209, sponsored by Rep. Michael Burgess (R-TX).
Among other provisions, the legislation would require the Health Resources and Services Administration to identify areas with maternity health care shortages and to review these designations annually.
The subcommittee held a hearing on this bill on December 9, 2015 (see The Source, 12/11/15).
