On September 14, the House Education and Workforce Committee approved, by voice vote, H.R. 5963, the Supporting Youth Opportunity and Preventing Delinquency Act, as amended, sponsored by Rep. Carlos Curbelo (R-FL). Among other provisions, the legislation encourages states to implement programs that address the needs of girls who are in, or at risk of entering, the juvenile justice system.
