On September 21, the House Veterans Affairs Committee passed, by voice vote, H.R. 3216, the Veterans Emergency Treatment (VET) Act, sponsored by Rep. Daniel Newhouse (R-WA). Among other provisions, the bill would authorize examination of, and treatment for, emergency medical conditions and women in labor.
