On July 11, the House Appropriations Committee approved, by voice vote, the FY2008 Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies spending bill (as-yet-unnumbered) after adopting a manager’s amendment by Chair David Obey (D-WI), also by voice vote. A House Appropriations Subcommittee approved the measure on June 7 (see The Source, 6/8/07).
An amendment by Rep. Dave Weldon (R-FL) that would prohibit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention from spending $5.5 million to administer the influenza vaccine to any child aged three or younger if the vaccine contains thimerosal, a mercury derivative, was approved by voice vote.
