On October 20, the House approved, 283-144, a bill (S. 397) prohibiting certain civil liability lawsuits against gun manufacturers, which includes a provision to require child safety locks on guns. The Senate approved the measure on July 29 (see The Source, 7/29/05). It will now go to the White House to be signed into law by President Bush.
