On April 7, the House passed, by voice vote, the Debbie Smith Reauthorization Act (H.R. 4323). The House Judiciary Committee approved the legislation on April 2 (see The Source, 4/4/14).
The measure would reauthorize grant programs for states to collect and analyze DNA evidence in sexual assault cases and provide training for law enforcement, medical professionals, forensic scientists, and others.
