On December 18, the Senate approved, 64-36, the Bipartisan Budget Act (H. J. Res. 59). The House passed the measure on December 12 (see The Source, 12/13/13).
Passage of the resolution prevents a government shutdown when the current continuing resolution (P.L. 113-46) expires on January 15, 2014 (see The Source, 10/18/13). The president is expected to sign the resolution into law.
