On December 17, the House approved, by voice vote, a bill (H.R. 4525) to reauthorize the Higher Education Act (P.L. 105-244) through March 31, 2006. The Senate approved the extension by unanimous consent on December 22. It will now go to the White House for President Bush’s signature.
Previous legislation (H.R. 3784) extending programs authorized under the Higher Education Act through December 31, 2005, was approved by the House and Senate earlier this year (see The Source, 9/30/05).
