Health Care Resolution Approved by Senate

On November 14, the Senate passed, by unanimous consent, a resolution (S. Con. Res. 94) expressing the sense of the Congress that a National Importance of Health Care Coverage Month be established. The resolution was approved by the Senate Judiciary Committee the same day. The commemorative month would be used to promote an educational effort about the importance of health care coverage, to increase awareness of available health care coverage options, and to inform those eligible for public insurance programs on how to access those programs. The resolution is sponsored by Sens. Ron Wyden (D-OR) and Susan Collins (R-ME).

A similar resolution (H. Con. Res. 271) was approved by the House on May 7 (see The Source, 5/10/02).
