House Subcommittee Approves Measures to Improve Child Product Safety

On July 31, the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Commerce, Trade, and Consumer Protection approved, by voice vote, the Consumer Product Safety Act (H.R. 2474), after adopting, by voice vote, a substitute amendment by Rep. Bobby Rush (D-IL). The committee also approved, by voice vote, the Danny Keysar Child Product Safety Notification Act (H.R. 1699); the Children’s Gasoline Burn Prevention Act (H.R. 814), after adopting, also by voice vote, a substitute amendment by Rep. Rush; and the Pool and Spa Safety Act (H.R. 1721). The subcommittee held a hearing on the bills on June 6 (see The Source, 6/8/07).
