Floor Action:
The House and Senate are in session this week.
Employment- On Tuesday, the House is scheduled to consider H.R. 7777, the Industrial Control Systems Cybersecurity Training Act, which has provisions for expanding access to industrial control systems education and training to women.
Health- On Wednesday, the House is scheduled to consider H.R. 7666, the Restoring Hope for Mental Health and Well-Being Act, which includes provisions for maternal mental health support, screening, and treatment.
Judiciary- On Tuesday, the House is scheduled to consider H.R. 3285, the 21st Century President Act, which would make terms relating to the president and the spouse of a president gender neutral.
Veterans- The House also will consider H.R. 6411, the Support The Resiliency of Our Nation’s Great (STRONG) Veterans Act of 2022, which includes provisions to provide women veterans with specific health care and benefits information and outreach efforts to minority women veteran coordinators at VA.
Mark-Ups:
Appropriations- On Tuesday, the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies will mark up the FY2023 Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies spending bill (as-yet-unnumbered), which includes funding for the Smithsonian American Women’s History Museum.
On Wednesday, the House Appropriations Committee will mark up the FY2023 Defense spending bill (as-yet-unnumbered). The Defense spending bill contains funding for several programs, including the Defense Health Program and military personnel programs.
Also on Wednesday, the House Appropriations Subcommittee on State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs will mark up the FY2023 Department of State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs spending bill (as-yet-unnumbered). The bill would provide funding for several international assistance programs supporting women and girls.
On Wednesday, the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies will mark up the FY2023 Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies spending bill (as-yet-unnumbered). The measure contains funding for programs to combat violence against women and to encourage women to enter STEM-related professions.
On Thursday, the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services (HHS), Education, and Related Agencies will consider the FY2023 Labor, HHS, Education, and Related Agencies spending bill (as-yet-unnumbered).
On Thursday, the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and Related Agencies will mark up the FY2023 Transportation, HUD, and Related Agencies spending bill (as-yet-unnumbered). This bill would provide funding for housing programs for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault and to support affordable housing for women with dependents.
Also on Thursday, the House Appropriations Committee will mark up the FY2023 Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and Related Agencies; and the FY2023 Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations bills (as-yet-unnumbered).
On Friday, the House Appropriations Committee will mark up the FY2023 Financial Services and General Government spending bill (as-yet-unnumbered). The measure contains funding for women-owned business programs at the Small Business Administration.
Housing- On Wednesday, the House Financial Services Committee will mark up several bills, including H.R. 68, the Veterans, Women, Families with Children, Race, and Persons with Disabilities Housing Fairness Act of 2021, also known as the Housing Fairness Act of 2021.
Military- On Wednesday, the House Armed Services Committee will mark up H.R. 7900, the FY2023 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The measure is expected to contain provisions related to military child development centers and to address military sexual assault.
Small Business- On Wednesday, the House Financial Services Committee will mark up H.R. 7977, the Promoting Opportunities for Non-Traditional Capital Formation Act. The bill includes provisions related to capital raising options for women-owned small businesses.
Sports- On Wednesday, the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee will mark up several bills, including S. 2333, the Equal Pay for Team USA Act of 2021.
Hearings:
Banking- On Thursday, the House Financial Services Committee will hold a hearing, “Monetary Policy and the State of the Economy.” The hearing will discuss gender diversity among the directors of the 12 Federal Reserve Banks and within the Federal Reserve System.
Employment- On Wednesday, the House Committee on Oversight and Reform will hold a hearing, “Tackling Toxic Workplaces: Examining the National Football League (NFL)’s Handling of Workplace Misconduct at the Washington Commanders.” The hearing will discuss allegations of discrimination, exploitation, and sexual harassment against female employees.
Veterans- On Wednesday, the House Veterans’ Affairs Subcommittee on Health will hold a hearing on several bills, including H.R. 345, the Reproductive Health Information for Veterans Act, and H.R. 1957, the Veterans Infertility Treatment Act.
Child Protection
H.R. 8061—Rep. Deborah K. Ross (D-NC)/Judiciary (6/14/22)—A bill to eliminate the statute of limitations for the filing of a civil claim for any person who, while a minor, was a victim of a violation of title 18, United States Code, section 1589, 1590, 1591, 2241(c), 2242, 2243, 2251, 2251A, 2252, 2252A, 2260, 2421, 2422, or 2423 of such title. This bill addresses sexual abuse and exploitation of children.

S. 4384—Sen. Christopher Coons (D-DE)/Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (6/13/22)—A bill to authorize the secretary of Education to make grants to support educational programs in civics and history, and for other purposes. This bill would fund research grants that are intended to achieve the full participation of female students in civics education.
