On May 24, the House Appropriations Committee passed, by voice vote, the FY2017 Transportation, Housing and Urban Development (T-HUD) and Related Agencies (H.R. 2577) spending bill. The House T-HUD Subcommittee and the Senate Appropriations Committee approved their versions of the bill on May 18 (see The Source, 5/20/16).
According to the committee report, the bill would provide $115.915 billion in FY2017 for programs at the Departments of Transportation and Housing and Urban Development (HUD). This amount is $1.959 billion over FY2016 and $16.703 billion below President Obama’s FY2017 budget request. The bill includes $38.695 billion for HUD, which is $383.932 million over FY2016, but is $952.884 million below the president’s request.
